Club Information

The Ducks Summer League Team is an age group competitive swim team. The team is affiliated with the Capital Area Swim League and competes against other teams in the central Pennsylvania area. Membership on the team is open to any student, 5 to 18 years old, who can swim 25 meters (one pool length) unaided in Freestyle and Backstroke. Members are not required to be residents of Hampden Township, but they must join the Hampden Township Pool.

Dual Meets are held on Saturdays during June and July. At the end of the season swimmers who swam in at least 3 meets during the current season can compete in a multi-team Divisional Championship meet. The top swimmers at Divisional meet will compete the next day at an All Star meet with the top swimmers of the other Divisions in CASL. The top finishers at All Stars will go to the Mid Cap Championships to compete against the top swimmers from the East Shore league.

The philosophy of the Hampden Ducks board is “to provide a positive environment for swimmers of all levels to develop into the best swimmer he/she can become, while fielding a highly competitive swim team”.  The Ducks board is governed by this philosophy, with “team” perspective and “family” as guiding factors.  Of course, parental involvement is the key to our success.

Prior to the seasonal opening of the Hampden Township Pool, the team has warm water practices at the West Shore YMCA. Practices are also conducted at the township pool as soon as the weather permits, typically once school finishes for the year, where we have a morning practice while continuing an evening practice as the West Shore YMCA.

Hampden Township Pool is an 8 lane, 50 meter pool that holds 550,000 gallons of water. A removable bulkhead converts the pool to 25 meters for swim meets. The pool has a full modern bathhouse, public restrooms and a public telephone. The team’s morning practice is compatible with the Hampden Township Summer Camp.

Our 2022 Registration fees are $125 for the first child in a family, $75 for the second child, $50 for the third child and $25 for each additional child. The registration fee includes a Hampden Ducks t-shirt and swim cap as well as the $5 per swimmer CASL league fee.
