WSY Awards Banquet
Last week, 17 athletes from our family competed and came together as one team to represent WSY at the YMCA Nationals Swimming Championships in Fort Lauderdale. All 17 athletes came together as one team and had a very successful meet. As many of you saw, we took 4th place out of over 200 teams from across the United States. These honors were not only earned by those swimmers that actually swam in the meets. These honors were earned by the swimmers in ALL practice levels, weather they swam at the divisional, all-star, district, state or national meets or not, who each day came to practice and did everything possible to improve their skills, no matter what ability or level. These honors were earned by every parent on this team who sacrificed their family time to bring their children to practice each day, to every parent who gave countless hours of their volunteer time to be at the YMCA to make certain our competitive swimming program ran smoothly. These honors go to family’s who brought their concession donations to make certain we had the resources available to have a first class organization. None of these accomplishments could have been possible had it not been for the incredible team work that every member of this team displays.
After our banquet, we have a very busy Spring and Summer in front of us, not only locally, where our WSY swimmers will compete in local swim meets, and invitationals, and Summer Championship meets, but Nationally, where our WSY swimmers will compete at YMCA Nationals in College Park Maryland and USA Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Later in the Spring we will announce our USA Olympic Team Trials send off, where we will honor and congratulate our three athletes that have qualified for the trials.
Let me be the first to say “Good Luck” to our WSY graduating seniors: Leah Gingrich, James Buck, Jessica Feldish, Harry Foster, Hayley Miller, Eddie Jenkins, Tyler Prete, Jon Quigley, Brittany Neifert, and Alexander Kinsey.
